Follow Friday (#5)

Well, I haven't done one of these for ages!

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where you meet and follow different bloggers.

Question of the Week: What is one thing that you wish you could tell your favourite author?

Favourite author? No plural? I have so many favourite authors, I can't choose! Well, okay, I can. I just can't do just one. Two, minimum. These two are probably my most loved authors ever, and both have been for quite a long time. Anyway, here we go:

Dear J.K.Rowling,
You probably get told this several times a day at least, but thank you for my childhood. I've loved the Harry Potter series since I was seven years old, and I don't think it is possible for me to get bored of it. This series has not only kept me entertained, but it - and the story of how you persevered to get it published - has really inspired me to pursue my own dreams and to have a bit of belief in myself. Your genius has inspired and helped so many different people, adults and children alike, and I don't think any of us would be able to thank you enough for that. And I know that in the future, when I'm sat in my Uni dorm room, the Harry Potter books will be sat dutifully on my bookshelf, dog-eared and old as ever.

Dear John Green,
Every book you written has encouraged and inspired me in one way or another, and each time I read a new novel by you, I learn something new about myself. They are some of my favourite novels,  and I don't think you realize how great a writer you are. Your words have helped so many people that I know, including myself,  and I feel like I owe a lot to you and your characters for the person I have become. And the characters - thank you for inventing them. That sounds stupid, but as I read and reread your novels, I can't help but become even closer to the characters and their lives. Thank you for Alaska and Miles and The Colonel; thank you for Q, Ben and Margo; thank you for Colin, Hassan and Lindsay; thank you for Will, Will and Tiny; thank you for Hazel, Gus and Philip. Thank you for being in-touch with teenagers emotions. Just thank you for everything.

Talk about getting emotional. Anyway, if I could do more, I'd write to Suzanne Collins, Jenny Downham, Malorie Blackman, Darren Shan, Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Julie Anne Peters, Cassandra Clare...just everyone. Why are there so many great authors? (not that I'm complaining! Great authors are...well...great!)

Anyway - what authors would you write to, if you could? Tell me all! (and follow, hint hint hint.)
