Follow Friday (#13)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where you meet and follow different bloggers.

Question of the Week: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

There are a certain few, for sure. Firstly, I've got to say that for how many copies have sold, Fifty Shades of Grey is definitely made out to be better than it is. It is poorly written, lacks a proper story-line, and is frankly just a bit odd. Other books include The Selection, Twilight, and Pure. I wouldn't suggest avoiding these reads, not if you're curious, but I personally thought they were all a bit disappointing.

So what did you pick? Anything I should avoid? Leave a comment below!

  1. My selections were Fifty Shades and Pure :-) I have to agree with Twilight, and I have Selection on my list (but because of the mixed reviews haven't read it yet).

    1. I'd say that The Selection isn't as bad as the other three, but it isn't as good as it's been made out to be. But definitely give it a try :)

    1. Fair enough - each to their own opinion, I always say :) I'm glad at least James is receiving some good reviews.

    1. Yeah, I've seen some people who completely loved it, and I can see why. I thought I'd be the same, but I guess I just didn't click with it :/ I'm glad you enjoyed it though :D

  5. I never intend to read Fifty Shades of Grey so I guess I don't have to worry about that x] But it is really annoying seeing it everywhere with it being so hyped up.

    1. Good! I didn't want to read it, but I wouldn't be able to have a really valid opinion about it until I did. I know; when I worked in Waterstones, we got so many orders of it, it was ridiculous!

  7. Yeah I am beginning to think that if they have to ride the Hunger Games coat tails, it's not worth the read. Thanks for stopping by, following you back.

    1. Yeah, I think I'm going to go with that too. Next time I say a book advertising that, I shall steer well clear!

  8. There's a lot of reasons that I don't want to read 50 Shades. I really disliked Pure as well.

    1. Don't read it, it is an utter waste of time. I only read it because I didn't think I'd be able to have a valid opinion if I hadn't :/ Yeah, I just couldn't click with Pure.

  9. It's surprising so many people read 50 Shades when I've mostly heard all negative reviews. Either way, nice pick!

  10. I haven't read Fifty shades, and based on a lot of reviews I've read, I wont like it anyway. Twilight series was my pick too.

  12. I agree with The Selection. Although I did like the book I definitely don't understand why people started the hype about it...

  15. New follower here!

Yeah... I think that's something that people are missing... that just because we're listing these books as "over-hyped" it doesn't mean that they shouldn't be read, or that we hate them!

    1. Yeah. Some books I'd class as bad, but that's just my personal opinion. I think people should still read them and develop their own opinion :)
