Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where you meet and follow different bloggers.
Question of the Week: What do you do with your books after you are done reading them?
Normally, I just stick them back on my bookshelf, because although I'm not a hoarder in general, I will admit that I'm a hoarder of books; they're just so pretty and difficult to part with! If I've read a book and know someone who will really enjoy it, then I will most likely lend it out to them (like The Hunger Games - my copies are so battered from being here, there and everywhere!) or just give it away permanently (I knew that when I started using the Twilight series as a fly swat that I needed to pass it on.)
So what about you? What do you do with books after you've finished them? Leave a comment below, and don't forget to check out the giveaway.

Exactly! It's so hard to let a book leave my hands. You never know how the recipient is going to treat it! If I think someone will really enjoy it, then I'll be them their own copy LOL :) Thanks for stopping by and great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteTraci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Exactly! I mean, when I borrow a book from someone, I swear I treat it like it's the Holy Grail or something - but not everyone is the same!
DeleteIt's kind of rare for me to buy a book I don't like - normally the books I buy are by authors I've known and loved for ages OR a book that's been highly recommended / received awesome reviews.
ReplyDeleteNormally if I'm unsure on a book I'll get an ebook copy first and read a few pages. If I like it then I'll buy myself a copy, if not then it's only a couple of pounds lost!
New follower on Bloglovin'. Here's my FF.
- Allie x (Little Birdie Books)
I'm the same! Although sometimes I will pick up a book if it has a gorgeous cover, and if I like the synopsis too...well, why not? I do usually have a sneaky peek on Goodreads though, just to check what the reviews are like.
DeleteI used to have a bunch of books.. but with so much moving, that has lessened. I'm in a more permanent spot now, so building the bookshelf back up :) Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteNew follower on Bloglovin'.
Yeah - I used to hate moving house because packing and unpacking all the books was such a chore!
DeleteI'm a book hoarder too. It's so hard to part with a book, especially if I really liked it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF.
Kimberly @ Once Upon a YA Book
I completely agree! I swear I get far too emotionally attached to books.
DeleteI am not an objects hoarder either but I am definitely a book hoarder, especially e-books. They just make it so easy! :-)
ReplyDeleteThey do! EReads are the ultimate hoarder-helper! You can just buy so many for so little space!
Deletelol Using twilight as a fly swat! That is funny :) Thanks for stopping by My FF!
ReplyDelete!
Janina
(following back!)
Funny but true! It was a surprisingly good fly swat as well.
DeleteNiiice!! Love the idea of the fly swat!! I usually donate all my unwanted books to my library and they usually sell them to benefit the library itself. So it's all good! In my first drop off to the library those books were the first to hit the cardboard box!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!

Ah, see I need to be more like that! I do sometimes give books to my school library, but since I left in July, I may have to find somewhere else.
DeleteHa! A fly swatter. That is a sign the book should be given away. With the exception of books, I'm generally not a hoarder either. I just can't part with my copies. Thanks for stopping by blog earlier.

Totally! It worked though, believe it or not - especially Breaking Dawn. You just throw it at the wall and BAM! job done. Neither can I, especially my favourite ones!
DeleteI hoard book too! And OMG you swat flies with Twilight?! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Old follower!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Well, I did until I gave them away!
DeleteI have some books that are really used. My first paperback Game of Thrones is falling to pieces!!!!
ReplyDeleteAngie
My Harry Potter books are falling apart :( I need to get a whole new set and just keep them preserved in a box!
DeleteI have a hard time letting go of books, but I rarely buy physical books anymore (they take up too much space). Thank goodness for eBooks!
ReplyDeleteNew Bloglovin' follower - thanks for stopping by :-)
Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun
I buy a lot of eBooks, but I still prefer physics - just their weight in your hands and the smell of them as you read...some experiences, eReaders just can't replicate for me.
DeleteI will never get rid of Twilight lol or Harry Potter . I got the books and the movies . They look so beautiful on a bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteMy Harry Potter books are all lined up together with the films beside them!
DeleteI don't like to loan out my books. Other people don't treat them right!
ReplyDeleteJenna @ Rather Be Reading YA
I have a few trusted friends who I will lend books out to! Though one girl I know did ask if she could borrow a John Green book of mine as she'd dropped hers in her soup. Um, no!
DeleteI agree with you, that sounds like what I'd do if I bought books more often! New follower via Bloglovin'! Thanks for stopping by! :D
ReplyDeleteI need to stop buying books, most definitely.
DeleteI'm a book hoarder too. I even buy new sets of books I really like if they come out with new bundles or covers. I am about to have my 3rd set of harry potter here soon and I have 2 sets of twilight, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

Amber @Paradise of Pages
A third HP set? Ooh, I'm jealous! I need to get myself another one, as mine as falling apart. Maybe another round of The Hunger Games trilogy whilst I'm at it?
DeleteI agree. I am pretty much the same. DVD hoarder too.....
ReplyDeleteFollwing you back via bloglovin and GFC
Oh same! I have about 100 taking up one shelf, so I guess I blame them on the reason I have no more room for books!
DeleteHopping through. I don't loan many books out. I'm always worried they'll get damaged.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I worry with certain people, but with others I know that they will take care of them.
DeleteI agree :)

Michelle@Because reading is better than real life
I also used to hoard and keep my books. I just couldn't be parted! I don't mind lending them out, as long as I know the person I'm lending to will take good care of them!

Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros
Same, same. If I don't trust the person with my books, they're not having them, simple as.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my FF! And happy blogaversary!! Followed on GFC!!
ReplyDeleteThank you :3
DeleteI, too, am a hoarder of books! :) And I giggled when I read you were using Twilight as a fly swatter. ;) Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. I'm a new GFC follower.
ReplyDeleteHeheh, I'm glad you enjoyed my little, uh, tale! It's nice to learn that I'm not the only book hoarder.
DeleteI'm a book hoarder too and love keeping my books! Great answer!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my post earlier. Just returning the love! Happy reading!
Old follower, but new follower via my personal GFC acc! ;)
Sarika @ The Readdicts
They just look so pretty! If I rate a book more than 3 stars, no way will I get rid of it!
DeleteThank you for stopping by my FF. :) I'm following you on Bloglovin and Twitter!
ReplyDeleteIt's a pleasure!
DeleteI can't even think about giving away my books even though recently...I don't have where to put them. They're just so beautiful and difficult to give away! Thanks for stopping by my post earlier.New Follower via bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteElena @ Book Lady's Reviews
I know that feeling! Sometimes if I don't even like a book but I love the cover, I'll still find it difficult to pass on!
DeleteI hate giving my books away too, new follower via Bloglovin'
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you!
DeleteIt's tough to part with a book, but we just don't have the room for them all! Thanks for stopping by my FF! Old follower.
ReplyDeleteMeredith
It's a pity, really! I swear I will have a library when I'm older, even if I have to forfeit my bedroom!
DeleteThanks for stopping by my FF! New follower via GFC, Bloglovin and Twitter (: Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not a hoarder usually either, but when it comes to books - absolutely! (:
DeleteI'm the same way! I can barely part with my books even to lend them out, but I always do because I like showing people new books to read and having people to fangirl with haha. Thanks for stopping by my FF! Following back via bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteKelly @ Dandelion Dreams
Exactly - I hate it when I read an amazing book and no one else I know has read it! Though luckily, I get that feeling less often not that I'm part of the blogging community!
DeleteI'm the same.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF
Marilyn @ Marilyn's Mystery Blog
Glad to know I'm not alone :D
DeleteTotally agree how hard it is to part with books!
ReplyDeleteIt's extremely difficult!
DeleteHappy blogaversary!!!
ReplyDeleteLoan out is a big no no for me =X. I used to when I was young but since some of them just never returned to me or I would get it back damaged (not like totally ruin but had dog ear and such). So now I just can't loan out anymore.
Thanks for stopping by and I follow back via bloglovin
Amie @Magic of Words
Thank you! Oh no, I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience! I have about six people I trust my books with - three fellow book lovers, and my family.
DeleteI give out my books to my friends as well, but sometimes I get them back in a worse condition which annoys me. I don't mind if it's well-read, but someone carelessly put blue ink all over the side of it.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Twilight is a great fly swatter! Good sign you needed to get rid of it though!
Thanks for stopping by my FF, I'm a new follower via Bloglovin' and Twitter.
Happy blogoversary! Thanks for the giveaway! Also, I notice you're reading All Our Yesterdays. So am I, hope you're enjoying it!
That's a rarity for me, luckily, though I guess I'm kind of stingy when it comes to books! But I know the friends I lend them to practically worship them like me, so it's okay! Though I did let my brother borrow my entire Harry Potter series, and he has kind of helped me in making a mess of them!
DeleteAwesome, I'll be on the look out for your review! I just finished it, and I was pretty impressed, I must say.
I'm totally a book hoarder, too. I have trouble parting with them!

Even though I know I can redownload books for Amazon for my Kindle, I still keep them in a folder on my computer - you can never be too sure!
DeleteOh yeah, totally agree! Self confessed book hoarder here too :) Parting with any of my books is so hard, so they just keep piling up!
ReplyDeleteFollowing via Bloglovin, GFC & Twitter :)
Hear hear! I do need to go through and sort mine out, but for the moment...nope! I just keep avoiding it.
DeleteI also have a massive folder on my computer full of PDF books which I want to put on my Kindle, one day. But it's just becoming a mess XD Thanks for stopping by, I'm following back :)
