Waiting on Wednesday (#31)

Waiting on Wednesday' is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I'm sure you'll see this around a lot today as the cover reveal was only last week. But nevertheless, this week I am waiting on Panic by Lauren Oliver.

PanicI've read quite a lot of Lauren Oliver's books, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't addicted to her writing. So when I found out about Panic - and saw the super gorgeous cover - how could I resist putting it on my TBR list?

Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.

I've never heard of anything like it - YAY FOR UNIQUENESS! Basically, I'm crazy excited for it and I'd kind of like it right now please.

  3. This sounds super cool! I still haven't read the Delirium books, because they just don't appeal to me THAT much (although I'm sure I'll get around to them eventually)... but this sounds like EXACTLY my cup of tea. Adding to the Wishlist now! Thanks for sharing!

    1. The Delirium trilogy really is good! I mean, I even managed to get my mum to read them, and dystopian/fantasy is definitely not up her street! Oliver's writing is just something else, really. Maybe you'd like Before I Fall? It's her contemporary/paranormal read.
